Confirm the exact hub, protocol and supported integration path for the chosen motor. Do not rely on a marketplace listing for a different model.

Record who supplies power, network, hub and programming; then test limits, direction, controls and recovery after power loss.
Curtain weight and track geometry
Motor capacity must suit the completed curtain weight, track length, opening direction and friction. A fabric change can change the load. Corner tracks, bends, centre opening and one-way stacking influence hardware choice.
The ceiling or wall also needs suitable support. A powerful motor does not compensate for weak backing or an underspecified track.
Power choices
Mains-powered tracks suit frequent operation and large treatments but need planned electrical work. Rechargeable options can reduce wiring on selected blinds, with charging access and battery maintenance considered. Power supplies should not be buried where they cannot be serviced.
Remote, app and smart-home control
A dedicated remote or wall control is usually the most direct everyday method. App control may require a hub and stable network. Voice assistants or smart-home platforms can require an approved bridge, account, cloud service or third-party integrator.
Ask the project team to record the exact model and integration responsibility. Smart-home platforms can change outside the curtain supplier’s control.

Somfy Glydea Ultra with TaHoma
This is the premium starting route for wired curtain tracks, wide glazing and heavier treatments. Current Somfy documentation lists Glydea Ultra variants with remote and supported touch-motion or manual-override functions, plus TaHoma pathways for app, schedules and voice control. Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home support varies by the exact motor technology, module, TaHoma configuration and region, so the complete combination must be verified before ordering.
Matter / Thread smart-motor route
This route suits customers who prioritise broad smart-home compatibility. Current Motionblinds documentation lists supported curtain systems for Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa and SmartThings through Matter and Thread. A compatible Matter controller and, where required, a Thread border router are still needed. Wired or rechargeable power depends on the treatment and selected motor.

Existing curtains and retrofits
